Industry and the drain

Endike Lane before the estate

In 1890 just to the south of the Endike Lane bridge on the west bank of the Beverley and Barmston drain was a large brick and tile works. As well as a kiln, the works comprised clay pits, clay mills and a windmill for pumping to prevent flooding of the clay pits.

North Hull development

The North Hull Estate and Endike Primary School

In the 1930s the central part of Endike Lane became one of the main streets of North Hull Estate, with council houses, shops, a cinema, a pub, and a church. The original Endike Primary school was built in 1932 and was completely re-built as part of the Schools for the Future programme in 2012.
